How long does it take to get an account set up?

Accounts are created instantly. Download the software and it will set up a fully functional trial account instantly - simply install a website template to get full use out of the software. You can convert your trial account at any time within the initial period to a full account. At which point we will design a bespoke website for you.

What is involved in setting up the 30 day free trial?

1. Download the software from the downloads page and install it on your PC.
2. Enter your business information, and activate the trial using the email you will receive.
3. Install a template to trial updating and uploading to a temporary website
4. Create a new album using the “New Album Wizard” and add some pictures.
5. Press the synchronise button to upload.
6. View your pictures on the web!
7. When you sign up we design a bespoke website to your exact specifications

Will my site and albums look like everyone else’s?

No. Phosys doesn't work on a template system, if you sign up we will design you a website that is indiviual, take a look at some examples on our home page.

Can I display my albums on my own web site?

Yes - we will intregrate our system with your existing website. We match your website exactly, with the relevant links back to your site.

I’m not a digital photographer – can I still use Phosys?

Yes. You need to get your photographs digitised by your processing lab. You can then directly add these images into an album.

Do I need to be an expert in Photoshop?

No. Phosys provides all the image processing routines. Images are automatically resized, watermarked & overlaid to the parameters you set when you create an album. If you want to crop the picture, just draw a box onto the preview picture. You can also use the same method to mark which area of the photograph you want to use as the thumbnail.

Do I have to rotate and crop the images?

No. If you have a digital camera that records the orientation in the EXIF information, Phosys will rotate the image automatically for you. If an image needs cropping, you can quickly mark the area on image before you upload. You can even mark which area of photograph is to be used as the thumbnail.

How many images can I upload?

Your Phosys account includes enough space for as many standard web sized images as you would normally require. If you actually run out of space and are using Phosys correctly, we will happily increase your limit free of charge.

What is the size of the web image?

You can set the size of the finished image that is displayed to your customer. At the recommended size of around 400x400 pixels, each image is approximately 25kb - 30Kb.

What if I need more space?

We will provide more space for your account free of charge on request. Please note that Phosys is not an image archive system, and you must clear out any "old" unused albums before requesting more space to avoid misuse of the system.

What does Phosys do to protect and secure my images?

The published image is on average around 25kb to 30kb in size and unsuitable for printing. All online images can be protected using a watermark of your choice or design, and overlaid with your company logo.

Do you sell or share any customer information?

We do not share any kind of information about you or your customers in any manner. Please refer to our privacy statement.

How long can I keep an album on the web site?

There is no time limit. We suggest that you remove any albums that are no longer being requested by your customers, as this frees up your web space and allows you to add more images if your space is running low.

How do I let customers know about the album?

Create invitation cards to hand out at events! Create a blank album ready for the event with a username and password. On the album menu of Phosys select “Invitation Cards”. Choose how many you require and print. The cards are printed complete with all your business details, web site and password information. These cards are completely configurable by you, right down to the text, colour, size, graphics and font.

Can I get visitor statistics?

Yes. Simple statistics are automatically generated every time a customer visits your site, enters an album or views an image. You can see the statistics in your administration area of the Phosys web site.

Can Phosys burn a CD of album pictures for offline proofing?

Yes - Phosys has the ability to directly burn CD's on computers using Windows XP, or will create a "CD Image" of watermarked pictures on Window 9x PC's to use with CD burning software. Phosys creates a higher quality image for use on the CD (Normally 1024x768 pixels), but still protected by a watermark and overlay. Phosys will also superimpose the file name on to each picture for easy selection by the customer. A CD Slideshow program is also added, which runs when the disk is inserted into any Windows PC.

How many images can I add to an album?

You can add as many images as you like. We recommend between 100 to 300 for an average wedding.

Can different albums have different prices and options?

Yes. Each album can automatically default to your preferred pricing, but each album can also have its own pricing structure. You can create as many different price structures as you wish to apply to albums. You can also apply different prices and structures to individual images if required.

Can I update or remove images once they are on the web?

Yes. To delete an image, just right click the thumbnail within the Phosys software and choose “Delete”. If you alter the caption, manipulate the image, change prices or data then any changes are automatically uploaded when you press the synchronise button.

How and when do I get paid?

The orders come directly to you, via email, from your customers. Payment can be made using several methods including PayPal, Cheque or Credit Card

How secure are Customer Payments?

Phosys has a highly secure server, which all customers go through to order from your site

Where are my pictures hosted?

Your images are held on the Phosys Servers. Our servers are located on the internet backbone, offering you continuous high-speed access.

What dimensions can the image have on the web?

Phosys sets a default size of 400x400 pixels, keeping the aspect ratio (images are never larger than 400px high, or 400px wide). You can change this to whatever values you like, but we don’t recommend larger than 600pixels due to screen size, upload time and printability of your pictures. Thumbnails have a default size of 100x100 pixels.

Can I create my own watermarks and overlays?

Yes. You can create watermarks and overlays using any image editing program. You can use basic bitmaps (.bmp), or for a professional effect, you can use 32bit Portable Network Graphic (.png) files, which have an "Alpha Transparency" layer. These can be created with many graphics packages including Photoshop and Fireworks.

Can I upload other items such as PDF’s and Word Documents?

Yes. Phosys has a “Bypass” Album function, where you can upload any sort of graphic or document instead of images. These graphics and documents can then be incorporated into the design of your site.

What is the URL or Web Address for my pictures?

We always sit your sit on your domain, no masking or web forwarding.

Does Phosys work on a Mac

We have a web based interface that all Mac users can utilise, giving then the same flexibility for uploading their images quickly

What is the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)?

Whenever you are asked for personal information on our site, or your customers enter payment information, the data transfer between the PC and the Web Server is protected by the highest standard of 128bit encryption.

What are the system requirements?

The Phosys system requires:

• Pentium 3 processor or higher (Pentium 4 Preferred) or Mac G4 Running Virtual PC.
• Windows 98 Second Edition or above (XP or above to directly burn CD’s)
• 50Mb free disk space, and space for storing your images.
• At least 128Mb of Ram (512Mb Preferred)
• Video resolution of 800x600 pixels 16Bit Colour (1024x768 True Colour Preferred)
• Modem Internet Connection (Broadband Preferred)

Can I use my own domain name, or sub domain?

Yes, you can point your existing domain or a sub domain at our servers free of charge.

To do this you must ask your ISP to point “A” records to the IP Address of one of our servers, and let us know the names you require. Please contact us if you would like to use this feature.
